Aleksandr Kaleri

Aleksandr Yuryevich Kaleri, Mir 22 flight engineer,  graduated from Moscow Physics-technical Institute in 1979 and is now an Energia cosmonaut.

From Mar 17 through August 10, 1992, Kaleri fulfilled a 146-day mission aboard the Mir. During that time he performed one EVA and participated in joint operations with guest cosmonaut researchers Klaus-Dietrich Flade of Germany and Michel Tognini of France.

Kaleri, along with Mir 22 Commander Valeri Korzun, was launched aboard a Soyuz-TM transport vehicle at the start of the Mir 22 mission on August 17, 1996. They were welcomed the Mir station two days later by the Mir 21/NASA 2 crew of Onufrienko, Usachev, and Lucid.
